Experience

Sophie Gijsbers accompanies her clients, large groups, small and mid-sized companies, directors and private investors, in managing their disputes before the civil, commercial and criminal courts and advises them daily to prevent all legal risks relating to their transactions.

She obtained significant experience in dispute management between partners/shareholders, M&Alitigation and contractual litigation of all kinds, notably in commercial contracts.

She very often intervenes on behalf of actors in the real estate sector and acquired expertise in real estate sales (disputes relating to negotiations, offers and pre-contracts, conditions precedent, and the completion of sales), construction law and property law.

Her experience as litigation counsel enabled her to obtain specialised knowledge in civil and criminal corporate risks and thus to develop recognised expertise in internal investigations and compliance programs.

She thus led numerous internal investigations, in France and internationally, on various issues (corruption, fraud, harassment) and developed expertise in the collection of information, interviewing, risk assessment and the implementation of remedial measures, in providing legal advice to companies on the management of disciplinary measures, governance issues and litigation.

She also advises large international groups on the development, implementation and auditing of their Anti-Bribery and Corruption programs (Sapin II Law), specifically in the establishment and updating of their corruption risk mapping or in preparingfor audits by the French Anti-Corruption Agency.

Prior to co-founding Apostrophe in January 2021, Sophie Gijsbers worked for more than eleven years in the Litigation and Arbitration groups of various first-rate business law firms (Herbert Smith Freehills and Bersay et Associés), and in her own law-firm solely dedicated to business litigation and compliance.
